Halo is delighted to announce that it has become the official supplier of wheels for the Velosure Starley Primal Pro Cycling Team.
The contract, which is for the 2015 season, means that Halo will be providing training wheels and racing tubs for both the men’s and women’s teams – a total of 17 riders.
Commenting on the announcement, Matt Askham, Brand Manager at Halo said: “We’re very excited to be working with VSP, not only are they a great bunch, but they’re also the only professional UK team running both a men’s and women’s squad who last season managed to win the Women's National Circuit Race Championship.”
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to get our name out in the pro road race scene. Halo have been producing wheels for world champions in BMX, downhill and dirt jump since the late 90’s, we’re well established in the single speed/fixed and off-road scenes but it’s only in the last couple of years that we’ve made serious efforts to enter the road market.”
It was Steve Clarke, Road Products Manager at Ison Distribution (owners of the Halo brand) who first approached VSP, chatting over the idea with James Smith, the VSP Team Manager at Eurobike last year. Steve had been following the team for a couple of seasons and was impressed with their performance and by their exposure on TV in the UK, riding the Tour Series, BC Elite Circuit Series and BC's Elite Road Series. Winning the National Champions jersey was also a huge bonus.
Steve said: “We’re chuffed to bits that we’re supporting VSP this season and really looking forwards to working with them, seeing this as an excellent opportunity to test our wheels in the demanding conditions that top level road racing entails.”
The team will be using Halo’s new 24mm wide Evaura and Devaura alloy clinchers for training. Racing will be done using prototype tubular versions of the new Carbaura RDX, a 25mm wide, full carbon wheel set which is also available as a tubeless-ready clincher.
