Chris Smith - National 4X Champion!

Chris Smith wins Masters National 4x Championships:

The National Champs rolled into Falmouth for the first time since racing this excellent track last year as a standard British round,Chris won here last year so Hopes were high for a repeat but this time for a Gold medal after a Silver a last years National Champs in Bridgenorth.

Chris says: I love the track here at Falmouth. To me it is a proper Mountain Bikers track as its got the lot, Big Jumps that you actually have to get right, Flat Corners, Bermed Corners, Rocks, Offcamber sections it has the lot and really tests the riders. It is a good length too.

So with a huge storm threatening the weekends events things were looking pretty grim! Undeterred Chris headed down and practiced for a couple of days prior to the event. National Champs day came and Chris won all his Motos aside from one. Then came the big Final. As the weather Forecasters predicted 20 Minutes of heavy rain poured down just before finals. Turning a bone dry dusty course into a slick track that no one had any idea of the grip level available until there race run! Chris rode hard and avoided 2 crashes from close competitors and crossed the line in First place winning the Masters Gold Medal and National Champs jersey too!

I am really pleased to take the win here in Falmouth. I have been training and chasing the Jersey since last year! It has been a tough day with some hard competition from the other guys. Glad it rained for finals actually as I Love a bit of mud and sliding around! It is such a good feeling to finally get the Jersey and Gold Medal"
